How Octus works

Three meetings.
One complete plan.

No portal logins, no document-signing-app-only experiences. You'll work directly with one advisor — by name, with their cell number — from discovery through funded execution.

01
Discovery ~ 90 minutes Virtual or in-person

We listen.

Your first meeting is a conversation, not a form. We want to understand your family, your assets, and the worries that have kept this on the back burner. By the end, you'll know exactly which documents you need — and which you don't.

What we cover

  • Family structure and beneficiaries
  • Real estate, accounts, business interests
  • Existing documents (we'll review them)
  • Guardianship for minor children
  • Charitable intentions, special bequests
  • Healthcare wishes and preferences
What to bring

Ideally, your beneficiaries' personal information — full legal names, dates of birth, and contact details. Helpful but not required for the discovery meeting.

You leave with: a written recommendation for which Octus bundle fits, the flat fee in writing, and an intake form by email — the form populates everything we'll work from in the next meeting.

~ 7 to 10 days · we draft
02
Draft Review ~ 60 minutes Virtual or in-person

We draft, you read along.

Your advisor shares the screen and walks you through every clause of your trust and ancillary documents — in plain English. Revisions happen live; you don't leave with homework.

What you'll see

  • Full revocable trust, clause by clause
  • Pour-over will and last will
  • Financial POA + medical POA
  • HIPAA release and living will
  • Schedule of assets to be funded
  • Successor trustee instructions

You leave with: a marked-up draft reflecting any changes you requested, plus a signing date on the calendar.

~ 5 to 7 days · we finalize and route for attorney review
03
Signing & Funding ~ 75 minutes Notary coordinated

We sign — and fund — together.

This is the meeting other planners skip. We don't just sign documents; we walk through every account that needs to be re-titled into your trust and complete the funding with you on the call. When you leave, your plan is live, not pending.

What we complete in the room

  • Notarized signing of all documents
  • Bank account re-titling instructions
  • Brokerage account transfer paperwork
  • Real estate deed preparation
  • Beneficiary designation updates
  • Digital copies delivered to your secure vault
A note on costs outside the flat fee: If you choose to title your home into the trust, the county charges a recording fee that varies by location. You file this with your county directly between meetings 2 and 3 — we provide written, step-by-step guidance. A fireproof safe is optional; we link a model we recommend on Amazon rather than selling one ourselves.

You leave with: a bound, executed plan, digital copies in your Octus vault, and your advisor's direct line for life events that warrant a check-in.

After the third meeting

Your advisor doesn't disappear.

Life changes faster than estate plans. A new grandchild, a divorce, a move, a sale — they all warrant a phone call. Every Octus client receives complimentary annual reviews, unlimited check-in calls, and amendments at no additional cost going forward. Major restructures are quoted before any work begins.
